Chandelier Size Guide
1. Determine Chandelier Diameter
Measure your room's length and width in feet, then add them together. The sum equals the approximate chandelier diameter in inches.
Example: 16 feet (Length) + 8 feet (Width) = 24 feet. Your chandelier should be approximately 24 inches in diameter.
2. Determine Chandelier Height
Measure your ceiling height in feet and multiply by 2.5. The result is the approximate chandelier height in inches. (Applies to pendant styles).
Example: 11 feet (Ceiling) × 2.5 = 27.5. Your chandelier should be about 27.5 inches in height.
3. Hanging Height & Clearance
Open Spaces: The bottom of the chandelier should be at least 7.5 feet away from the floor.
Above Tables: The bottom should be 30 to 36 inches above the tabletop for optimal lighting.
Guidelines for Different Spaces
Dining Room & Kitchen
Diameter should be between ½ and ¾ of the table length.
Stairways & Foyers
- Use the second floor as a reference point.
- Bottom should sitting slightly lower than the staircase top.
- Center in large windows for exterior visual impact.
